Bollards for offices and business parks
Entrance control, perimeter protection and smart, durable finishes for corporate sites and multi-let parks.
Computer-generated imageWhat offices and business parks need from bollards
Offices want two things from bollards: control over which vehicles get past the entrance, and a frontage that looks considered rather than defensive. Stainless steel, sleeved posts and automatic rising bollards with ANPR or fob control usually do both.
On multi-let business parks the landlord, the tenants and sometimes a management company all have a say, so we document the line, the access arrangements and the maintenance responsibilities in the quote. Where an organisation has had security advice recommending rated vehicle protection, we install the specified rated products to the manufacturer's tested foundation.
Typical requirements
- Automatic rising bollards at controlled entrances
- Access control by ANPR, fob, keypad or intercom
- Stainless and architectural finishes
- Perimeter lines in front of glazing and entrances
- Planned servicing of automatic systems
- Lighting bollards on paths and car parks
Things to check
- Automatic bollards need power, ducting, safety loops and signage, and a maintenance regime from day one.
- Emergency vehicle access must be agreed: fire service override, keys or a drop-key arrangement.
- Keep pedestrian routes clear and well lit; visibility bands help on dark evenings.
- Agree who owns and services the system on a multi-let site before it is installed.
Offices and business parks: questions
Are automatic bollards better than a barrier arm?
They are stronger and look tidier, but cost more and need more maintenance. A barrier stops honest drivers; rising bollards can stop a vehicle that tries to force through, depending on the product.
Can bollards link to our existing access control?
Usually. Most controllers accept a dry-contact signal, so ANPR, fob readers and intercoms that already open a gate can normally drive bollards too.
How often do automatic bollards need servicing?
Most manufacturers recommend at least one planned service a year, and busy entrances benefit from two. A service contract is the simplest way to keep warranty conditions.
