Bollards for warehouses and logistics sites

Impact protection for doors, columns, racking ends, docks and pedestrian walkways in forklift and HGV areas.

What warehouses and logistics need from bollards

In warehouses the threat is constant low-speed impact: forklifts clipping door frames, reach trucks catching columns, HGVs reversing onto dock shelters. High-visibility steel bollards and impact posts take those hits so the building, racking and people do not.

Inside, posts are usually base-plated onto the slab with resin anchors; outside, they are root-fixed in concrete footings. We check slab thickness and any underfloor heating, services or post-tensioning before drilling, and set lines that keep pedestrian walkways genuinely separate from vehicle routes.

Typical requirements

  • Loading-bay door and dock protection
  • Column and building corner protection
  • Pedestrian walkway separation
  • Fire exit and plant protection
  • Yard protection for gatehouses and kiosks
  • Fast replacement after impacts

Things to check

  • Floor slab thickness and condition decide whether base-plated posts will hold; thin or cracked slabs need a different fixing.
  • Yellow and black posts are recognised in workplaces; keep them clean and visible.
  • Do not let protection narrow a walkway or fire route below what your risk assessment needs.
  • Record impacts — repeated hits in one place usually mean the traffic route needs changing.

Warehouses and logistics: questions

Should warehouse bollards be fixed to the floor or set in concrete?

Inside, base-plated posts bolted into a sound slab are normal and avoid breaking the floor. Outside, or where heavy impacts are expected, root-fixed posts in a concrete footing are stronger.

Can you work around our operations?

Yes. We fence off small areas, work night or weekend shifts where needed, and schedule resin cure times so the floor reopens quickly.

What height and diameter should impact posts be?

Common sizes are around 1.0–1.2 m tall in 114–168 mm diameter steel, chosen by the vehicles in the area. Bigger trucks need bigger posts and deeper fixings.
